MISSION STATEMENT

Arborbotics aims to integrate STEM, teamwork, leadership, business, and communication through 21st century learning. We strive to have our team make an impact on our school and the local community. Our team works to ensure all students at UPHS have an opportunity to learn about STEM beyond the standard classroom. Our ambition is to provide a safe environment for students to make mistakes, ask questions, and learn through experience.

OUR TEAM

Our team, Arborbotics , is currently participating in our eighth year of FRC.  Our team name and branding stems from our school, which is located on the College of the Sequoias campus. We have adopted the Sequoia tree as our symbol for the team. We work to provide an opportunity for students to grow and develop in a real-life work environment, through the FIRST Robotics Competition.   

OUR SCHOOL

 University Preparatory High School is located in Visalia, California. We are a charter school that allows our students to dual-enroll in College of the Sequoias (COS). We encourage students to take college classes alongside their high school curriculum. Our school aims to prepare students for college and other higher level education by allowing us to learn in a college environment. UPHS offers a variety of programs, including ones in the arts, as well as STEM, through robotics.

FIRST 

For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, also known as FIRST, is a nonprofit organization that aims to offer students an atmosphere and application through which to learn about STEM, business, and community involvement. FIRST was created in 1989 by Dean Kamen, whose vision was "to transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders."

FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION

Our team participates in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). FIRST strives to ensure that the competition is "more than just robots," and works to combine business and communication skills, teamwork, leadership, Gracious Professionalism® and "coopertition®" ​into the competition.

Our rookie year, we raised enough money for our team to go to the Central Valley Regional. Our team won the "Rookie Inspiration Award".
