Team Updates
Our team regularly participates in activities at school and in the community.
As our 2020-2021 school year begins virtual classes, our students are working on ways to get our school involved in STEM learning. We're learning as we go and finding out more and more about the way a love of science surpasses all boundaries!

Due to COVID-19, both of the competitions our team meant to attend were cancelled by FIRST. Although we did not get to compete this season, we are grateful for FIRST's method of putting student safety first. We still hold the value of the lessons learned throughout our build season and we can't wait to see what happens next!
Today we gave a presentation to 6-7 graders at Valley Life! We described the goals and organization of our team, showed a video of our robot, and answered questions about our team. Afterwards, we helped the students make flashlights. We appreciated this opportunity to spread an interest in STEM in our community!
Tonight our team held a workshop for a local Girl Scout troop to earn their robotics badges! Our team members taught the kids how to make flashlights, write commands for LEGO robots, and other robotics-related activities. We really enjoyed this chance to show young girls the fun of STEM! Our team was excited to volunteer at Crestwood Elementary today! We taught 3rd grade students how to make flashlights, and both our team and the kids had a lot of fun. We're looking forward to establishing a volunteering base in this area of the community! Today, we volunteered at St. Aloysius Parochial School in Tulare! Our team members taught the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders how to make flashlights. We hope to go back again soon! Today was the last day of our first build week, and we are proud of the progress we have made, and aware of how far we still need to go. We are excited to continue working until our robot is ready for competition! Today, FRC released the annual challenge for this season! We will spend the next week, then 6 Saturdays designing, coding, wiring, and fabricating our robot in the best way possible to succeed at our competitions. We are excited for the lessons we will learn and the challenges we will face in the next few days. We would like to thank our mentors, Mr. Curtiss and Mr. Tobin, for dedicating their time to our team. They will be in here all week, helping our students to learn valuable skills. We couldn't do this without them, and we are deeply grateful. We would also like to thank the parents who bring us lunch every day! They make it possible for us to work for hours without stopping to find a lunch. We are grateful for every person who helps make our team what it is today. Finally, we would like to thank our sponsors. Without your generous support, our program wouldn't exist. We are extremely thankful for your support! Today we volunteered at a local FLL competition! FLL is a competition done by FIRST, the same organization that created our competition. FLL is aimed at elementary schoolers, and we had a lot of fun with the kids! Our team members filled different roles like referee, field reset and other things. Our team was thrilled to help support the love of STEM in our community, and we hope to go back again next year! We had a great weekend competing in the MadTown Throwdown off-season competition, hosted by team 1323! We brought both our robots, to give more members an opportunity to participate in lead roles. We are honored for the opportunity to participate. As a team, we would like to thank all the volunteers and teams that helped plan, host, and work at the event, all of the parents and our mentors that supported and guided us at competition, all of our alliance partners during qualifications, and all of the sponsors that made attending possible! We learned a lot of lessons this weekend, and we are excited to implement our knowledge in our upcoming competiton: Infinite Recharge! |
