Team Updates
Our team regularly participates in activities at school and in the community.
Today our team hosted a workshop at the Expanding Your Horizons event on our campus! Expanding Your Horizons is an annual, day-long series of workshops aimed at young girls interested in STEM careers. The event's goal is to give these bright students the opportunity to learn more about the opportunities available to them. In our workshop, members of our team taught students how to make flashlights from basic materials like an LED, a 1.5 volt battery, a popsicle stick, a binder clip, and some foil. We taught the kids about basic circuit theory and presented our competition robot to give an example of the application of the skills they learned. We had a lot of fun at this event and can't wait to participate again next year!

Today our team attended an off-season scrimmage hosted by another FRC team, Uni-Rex 5817! Uni-Rex is a team based in Sanger, CA, and we were invited along with other local teams to have a day of practice matches on their field. This event gave us a great opportunity to troubleshoot our robots before our upcoming offseason competition in Madera. Also, our new members had a great opportunity to get hands-on experience of what a competition is really like. As a team, we would like to thank Uni-Rex for hosting this event and inviting us to attend. We greatly appreciate the opportunity and hope to work more with this team in the future! Today our team members volunteered with the students at Denton Elementary school! We used conductive clay to demonstrate how an electrical circuit works. We also showed our robot to the kids to explain how circuits can function on a higher level. We hope to visit again in the future!
Today we volunteered at Washington Elementary School's Literacy and Math Day! We used LEGO robots to teach kids the basics of programming. The kids also enjoyed getting to drive our competition robot. Today was a lot of fun and we hope to do more events like this in the future!
Today we had the opportunity to give a presentation about our team to the Visalia Breakfast Rotary and demonstrate our robot!
Our team is excited to announce that we've been awarded the KMPH and Mor Furniture One Classroom At A Time Grant for $1000! This grant will go toward paying the costs of our hardware department, allowing us to purchase materials and tools necessary for building our robot. We are very grateful to KMPH for this opportunity!
Today our team volunteered at the Tulare County Library Book Festival, teaching kids about basic ideas involving circuits and electricity through making circuits out of conductive dough, and making flashlights. We had a lot of fun at this event!
Today, we visited ImagineU Museum (a local children's museum) again, to teach a group about circuits and electricity by making flashlights. We've been able to make these flashlights with a variety of groups in the community, and we are excited to continue to do so!
This Saturday, our team volunteered at the local FLL Qualifier, Ridgeview Raptor Rumble for our third year. We had a lot of fun helping local teams compete in the FIRST Lego League competition. FIRST Lego League is a lego robotics competition designed for students grades four through eight, and is part of FIRST's progression of robotics programs.
Three of our team members also won the volunteer award this year. We had a great time volunteering, and we look forward to coming again! Today our team visited the local St. Aloysius school, and made flashlights with students there. Students also were able to learn basic ideas about electricity and circuits. We had a great time!
