Our Goals
Build a Robot
2017 was our rookie year, and we had a very tight budget to use for our robot. Despite this, we were able to build a successful robot and we were ready to compete by the first competition day. In the past year, our team worked hard to grow from the lessons we learned in our first year. This year, our goals include involving more students, raising more funds, and teaching our newest members about the components of our robot. We hope to achieve a point where every member of our team has an understanding of our robot's hardware, electrical setup, and programming.

Impact the local community as a team.
We seek to have a big impact in our communities, and to share what the STEM fields have to offer to the local public. Our team members volunteer at other local FIRST events. We also volunteer regularly at children's science events, showcasing our robot, teaching students to make flashlights, and teaching basic coding with LEGO robots. As we are the only school in Tulare County with an FRC team, we have an ongoing goal of helping another high school start a team.

Provide an opportunity for UPHS students to learn about STEM through 21st century learning.
Our team provides students at UPHS with a place to learn the applications of STEM. Every person on our team participates, and learns about the robot. We want to inspire students at our school at what STEM fields offer to the community. Our team members teach each other, by working together to build a robot that accomplishes the tasks in the competition.

Raise funds necessary for us to compete at the FIRST competition
In order to compete in the 2024 FIRST Robotics competition, and improve our team, our fundraising goal is $15,000. Our team is currently working to find fundraising opportunities, including sponsors. If you are thinking of becoming a sponsor, we would greatly appreciate your generous support.
